What is it that you must always stay away from… Forever!

   

And not only if you are a fitness fan!

 

You know what’s the quote I always laugh at? Sleep is for weak people. Or something like “You must burn yourself out to achieve success, you must sacrifice your health” or any other BS like that.

 

I have a few friends that burn themselves out, ruin their bodies in rush for financial success. As a result, what these people get in return is chronic fatigue, absence of motivation, extreme reliance on stimulants like coffee, red bull, monsters, etc. (which makes the exhaustion even worse), no sex drive whatsoever, fat gain and inability to lose it, loss of muscle mass, suppressed immune system (which means you get sick easier, more often, and it takes you longer to heal), and even overall decreased happiness and satisfaction from life.

 

So If you are satisfied to go for such sacrifices to achieve financial success super fast (fitness success is not going to happen as well if you burn yourself out), then stop reading right now. If you want to avoid it, let’s talk into more details.

 

Have you heard of something like ADRENAL FATIGUE? What is it? It is inability of your body to cope with stress placed on it, primarily hormone-wise. In fact, it’s a serious problem of todays society, around 80% of people are in at least stage 1 or 2, NOT EVEN AWARE OF PROBLEMS and thinking that relying on coffee to get the day started is completely normal. Stresses might be: Physical (overtraining), mental, emotional and environmental. There is a lot of things that happen in your body in terms of hormones during 4 stages of adrenal fatigue, but here I am going to keep it relatively simple and brief.

 

Before I continue on this topic, I want to mention that the state of “adrenal fatigue” is not scientifically proven, hence some people believe that nothing like that exists. Ok, whatever, let’s say so called “adrenal fatigue” DOES NOT exist, but what certainly does is the same chronic fatigue with all the same signs and symptoms I listed above. So who cares what is it called? Ok, call it “body exhaustion” or “burning the heck outta yourself”. You pick whatever you want.

Now onto “unproven stages” of adrenal fatigue:

 

Stage 1: During stage 1 your daily functioning stays normal, but body releases more stress hormone called cortisol, to overcome the stressors. It is easy to define this stage by low energy In the morning, even if you had a good sleep. But you still are not able to achieve peak performance. The biggest problem is that this stage and its symptoms are easily covered by intake of coffee or other stimulants. The insulin producing portion of pancreas might also be affected, which makes us crave more sugar.

 

Stage 2: Your body starts demanding more rest than usual, especially at the end of the day. The low morning energy is more pronounced, person becomes irritable and anxious. Sleep disturbances come into play, person gets sick easier. To keep your mood up and cover all those symptoms, your body relies on even more stimulants. You also start feeling cold, sluggish and gain weight easier.

 

Stage 3: Adrenal exhaustion. All the symptoms listed in the previous 2 stages get worse. Normal daily functioning is highly affected. Chronic fatigue leads to muscle breakdown, as well as it spreads and affects multiple organs. Your adrenals shut down the production of many hormones in order to survive. Libido is suppressed, metabolism slows down significantly, as well as digestion, to conserve energy. You are getting close to a bed-ridden state as you are getting to zero energy levels. Your body is screaming louder for help, and if at this point you don’t start the recovery immediately, your body, regardless of how much you recover later, will never return to the state of “full freshness” you had before stage 1.

 

Stage 4: Adrenal failure. At this point, adrenals, kind of die, and person gets a high risk of cardiovascular failure and even death. When you hit this stage, you pretty much will be in a state of “acute adrenal insufficiency” your whole life, even if you try to recover.

 

You know what the main problem is? Unawareness. Even some dumb-ass doctors usually just prescribe anti-depressants to their patients and send them home. But people, unaware of the whole seriousness of these issues, think it’s normal. They keep using stimulants to cover symptoms and exaggerate the problems, and state something super philosophical like “success requires sacrifice”.

 

Listen. Take care of your health, it’s one of the most important aspects of your happiness. There are ways to make money and stay healthy. Read the book called “The one thing” by Gary Keller. This guy is a multi-millionaire in real estate, and even he states that the main thief of your productivity is what I just talked about. He always gets his sleep, breakfast, goes to the gym and rests. This guy says that exhaustion actually negatively affects his financial well-being: He delivers crappy service, not focused, bad at communicating and negotiating with people, etc. People that make 70.000$ a year destroy themselves and try to look smart and brave, meanwhile someone a hundred times smarter than you are, found a way to make tens of millions and keep his health. Think about it. Try your best to never get into stage 2 or higher of such an evil as “adrenal fatigue”.
